The 'Dawson's Creek' actress revealed that she actually asked the screenwriter for a divorce in 2016 after "feeling alone" and turning to another man for support.

However, Marc encouraged her to attend couples therapy with him and the pair managed to salvage their relationship.

Writing in her memoir 'This Will Only Hurt a Little': "We were doing well in therapy together too...When I finally came clean about the other dude, he was weirdly understanding about it. He really just wanted me to know that he loved me and was sorry I'd felt so alone for so many years and wanted to support me in whatever I needed."

However, the pair did eventually separate in 2021.
