Catherine Zeta-Jones hasn't read Michael Douglas' memoir yet.

The 82-year-old actor's memoir, One Helluva Ride, hit shelves this week and has already caused a sensation with revelations including the confirmation of his romance with Kathleen Turner, his secret affair with Jeanne Tripplehorn and the admission he was dating five other women at the time Catherine wanted to make their relationship serious.

While Catherine - the mother of Michael's children Dylan, 26, and 23-year-old Carys - hasn't read the book yet because she's been busy working on Wednesday and Kill Jackie, she isn't expecting to be too shocked by any of the content when she does get around to perusing the tome.

She told E! News: “I haven’t read the book. I just got my copy literally yesterday when it came out.

“Look, my husband’s colourful, fantastic career—he named the book One Helluva Ride, so you’ve got to hold onto that when you read it, I’d say.

“That’s what I’m going to do when I read my copy anyway.”

Asked if she'd been surprised by any of the anecdotes that had generated headlines, she simply said: "No."

The Chicago actress couldn't be prouder of her spouse.

She said: “He’s been writing his book for quite some time, during these last years I’ve been doing Wednesday and Kill Jackie, and I’m just happy for him.

“It’s a great legacy.”

Catherine credits kindness and humour for the success of her long relationship with Michael.

She said: “Being kind to each other. And we have a very similar, sick, dry sense of humour. Which, in any circumstance that you find yourself in, within 28 years—we were two years together before we got married—you’ve got to find humour in it.

"It may not be funny at the time, but you got to look back at it and go, ‘You gotta laugh at that now, remember when that happened?’”

And having "free reign" to pursue the projects they are interested in has also been key, though the 57-year-old star admitted that isn't always easy.

She said: “He loves nothing more than when he sees the joy my acting brings me.

“I don’t want to be away from him for seven months, coming back and forth, but we make it work. We always find those times and those long weekends where we can reconnect, and then off we go.”
