Cheryl planning documentary to launch epic career comeback - report
Cheryl has been off the radar following a difficult few years, which saw her mourn the death of former partner and father of her son Bear, Liam Payne.
Cheryl is reportedly planning to sign up for a major documentary about her life’s highs and lows in what will mark a career comeback for the singer.
The Girls Aloud star, who first found fame on the TV show Popstars: The Rivals, has been off the radar following a difficult few years, which saw her mourn the death of former partner and father of her son Bear, Liam Payne.
However, according to The Sun newspaper, the 43-year-old is in the midst of signing on the dotted line for a film about her career success, as well as her complicated personal life.
A source told the publication: “Cheryl is incredibly picky about what she chooses to do these days and spends a lot of time on motherhood, but she feels like she has a story to tell.”
As well as her relationship with former One Direction singer Liam, Cheryl has had high-profile marriages to footballer Ashley Cole, from 2006 to 2010, and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, from 2014 to 2016.
The insider added that while a network has yet to be attached to the project, it’s expected that it will prompt a bidding war from streamers such as Netflix, Apple and Amazon Prime.
In order to deliver the documentary exactly how she wants, Cheryl “would also have creative control over the project”.
It wouldn’t be the first time Cheryl has starred in a documentary, as she previously appeared in the 2012 film Access All Areas, which followed her as she launched her first solo arena film.
However, Cheryl was left regretting the way she was portrayed in the documentary, explaining previously that she “forgot myself” due to having a friend film her.
She said: “I have since regretted this decision. The number of times I cringed watching it.”
It remains to be seen whether or not the documentary would also mark a return to the music field for Cheryl, who hasn’t released any new music since Let You in 2019.
She previously said she wasn’t sure if she would release any new tunes, adding in a 2023 interview: “The industry's completely changed and I don't know if I'd fit in."
