Dolly Parton's brother, crane operator and farmer Coy "Denver" Parton, has died, aged 82.
Dolly Parton's brother has died, aged 82.
Crane operator and farmer Coy "Denver" Parton passed away on July 23rd, an obituary on the Atchley Funeral Home website confirmed.
According to the statement, Denver is survived by his daughters, Chris Parton and Jennifer Parton; grandson, Ian Parton and fiancée Taylor York; brother, Bobby Parton; sisters, Willadeene Buzzeo, Dolly Parton, Stella Parton; Cassie Griffith (Greg), Freida Parton, Rachel George (Eric), Laura Price (David); sister-in-law, Kay Parton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Parton.
There is expected to be a private service for Denver.
His obituary read: "Friends are welcome to sign the guest register book available at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
"Services will be private. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made to www.atchleyfuneralhome.com"
A cause of death was not revealed in his obituary.
Denver and Dolly, 80, were two of 12 children.
Jolene hitmaker Dolly is yet to speak out publicly about her brother's death, but has previously told how her unique upbringing shaped her as the woman she is today.
Speaking to Paramore's Hayley Williams in November 2023, for Consequence, she said: "Well, there's a whole lot of reasons for me being the way that I am. First of all, I grew up in a family of 12 kids.
"I got six brothers and I got my five sisters.
"So, I've had every personality around me. And I've often said I've got some of everybody in my own immediate family, and in my family of employees.
"I've got gays, I've got lesbians, I've got trans, I've got alcoholics, I've got drug addicts.
"I've got some of everybody in my own family, so I naturally love them, accept them.
"And I also have a spiritual background and think that it's not my place to judge. I'm not God.
"There is a God piece in all of us, and I try to find that in everybody – even the worst people, there’s something good in there.
"Maybe they didn't get a chance to be it. I understand that people that hate so much usually are the people that have never been loved enough."
