Andy Dick reveals what he saw when he 'died' after drug overdose
Troubled comedian Andy Dick has revealed he didn't see a "tunnel" when he "died" following a drug overdose last year - and admitted taking drugs from strangers was a "bad idea".
Andy Dick saw "nothing" when he "died" following a drug overdose last year.
The 60-year-old comedian - who has spent years battling substance abuse issues - collapsed on a sidewalk in Los Angeles in December 2025 after taking a potentially fatal dose of fentanyl but he was revived after being administered Narcan, a lifesaving medication which reverses the affects of opioid overdoses.
Now Andy has opened up about his experience of "dying" and insisted he didn't see the mythical "tunnel" said to be associated with near-death experiences. He told Rolling Stone magazine: "The tunnel that they say there is, I never saw one. Nothing. But I did legit die because there was nothing going on and they had to do one of those Narcan shots on me before.
"And then when I woke up, I thought: 'Why didn't you just let me die?' Which is very sad that I had that thought. But the first thing I said allegedly was: 'Where's the vodka?'"
Andy revealed he collapsed after taking a hit from a pipe handed to him by a group of strangers on the street, and admitted it was a "bad idea".
The incident prompted the troubled funnyman to seek help - he checked into rehab for treatment and is now being housed in a sober living community where he can't use any substances.
At the time of his interview with Rolling Stone, Andy declared he is "147 days" sober, but insisted he's not scared about relapsing or even dying.
He explained: "Anything that has to do with me, even my own death or dying, doesn't scare me ... Relapse doesn't scare me because I'm not afraid of it. This is horrible to say, but I don't give a f****** s*** if I relapsed."
Andy went on to add: "I want life to be f****** fun, man. I had a lot of fun smoking pot. I had a lot of fun drinking and doing other drugs. But if you add them all up, those fun times were just ... not that fun.
"It's not as fulfilling as just being sober and seeing your grandkids play".
Andy previously opened up about the day he almost died and revealed the overdose left him with memory problems because he has "holes" in his brain.
During an appearance on the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast, Andy noted his heart stopped beating and he was "purple, not breathing", while he only remember "waking up in the ambulance".
Andy said doctors scanned his head and discovered "about five to seven holes" in his brain. Howie suggested he might mean "lesions", but the comedian added: "That's not the word I remember they used."
