Taylor Momsen hospitalised a week after venomous spider bite
The Pretty Reckless frontwoman Taylor Momsen has been admitted to hospital a week after being bitten by venomous spider during a tour stop in Mexico.
Taylor Momsen has been admitted to hospital a week after being bitten by venomous spider while on tour.
The Pretty Reckless frontwoman, 32, detailed her spider bite in a video posted on her Instagram page last week revealing an insect had taken a "massive chunk" out of her leg during a stop in Mexico City, Mexico during the band's tour with rock legends AC/DC with Taylor explaining she'd been given an injection by a doctor to treat the wound. However, the bite failed to heal and Taylor was rushed to hospital after she developed a nasty rash which spread up her leg from the bite.
In a post on Instagram, Taylor shared a picture of her red and blotchy leg, writing: "Hospital today, show tomorrow, poisonous spiders are NO BUENO but the show must go on, see you tomorrow Mexico City."
However, Taylor later returned to the social media platform to reveal concerned doctors had decided to keep her in overnight, writing: "Or I just spend the night in the hospital … thank you to the amazing doctors who, well, they know."
The post was accompanied by a picture of the singer holding an ice pack to her head and a video which showed her been wheeled around the hospital on a bed.
She later confirmed she was out of hospital and ready to play another show in Mexico City.
The spider bite came two years after the singer was bitten by a bat while she was onstage at a show in Seville, Spain in May 2024 when The Pretty Reckless were previously opening for AC/DC.
At the time, Taylor shared on social media: "So … ROCK AND ROLL MOMENT… in Sevilla Wednesday during Witches Burn of all songs … a BAT flew onto me and clung to my leg …in the moment I was performing and had no idea until the incredible crowd kept screaming and pointing."
A video of the moment showed Taylor being made aware of the bat situation by members of the audience.
In the clip, she said: "You guys are pointing at something and I don't know what you're saying ... There's a f****** flying bat on my leg right now. Can someone help me please? Eeek! I must really be a witch."
After being assisted by members of the crew, Taylor added: "It's alright, and the bat's fine. He's gonna be my new friend."
Taylor was treated at a local hospital and had to spend two weeks taking anti-rabies medication.
