Star Wars: ‘big’ game announcement coming ‘very soon’, title ‘ends with The Old Republic’
A “big” Star Wars game announcement is reportedly coming later this week - and the project's title is said to "end with The Old Republic".
A “big” Star Wars game announcement is reportedly coming later this week.
According to reputable leaker Kurakasis, Lucasfilm Games will be revealing an upcoming project “very soon” - and it has “nothing to do with Star Wars: Zero Company or [Star Wars] Eclipse”.
The gaming researcher added this game’s title “ends with The Old Republic”, suggesting fans will finally get an official update on the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake.
The long-beleaguered title was first announced back in September 2021, with Aspyr Media confirmed to develop the game while Sony served as its publisher.
However, in August 2022, Aspyr was said to have been kicked off the project because Sony was not satisfied with their work, and the KOTOR Remake was then handed to Saber Interactive at The Embracer Group.
But in March 2024, the future of the game was called into question when Saber left Embracer, and it was not immediately clear whether the KOTOR Remake would go with the developer, stay with the publisher, or be cancelled altogether.
It was eventually confirmed that Saber had taken the project with it, later insisted the title was “alive and well”.
The most recent official update on the KOTOR Remake came in March 2025, when Saber CCO Tim Willits said “everything that we have talked about is still in development”.
If Kurakasis’s claim is true, fans could get a new look at the KOTOR Remake at The Game Awards, which will take place on December 11, 2025.
