Vladimir Putin has been sleeping in his Kremlin office due to the stress of the Ukraine war.

The paranoid Russian leader is said to have abandoned his gymnast lover Alina Kabaeva and their young children to live inside the Russian fortress.

It has been speculated that Putin has made the move to the well-guarded Kremlin for security reasons as Russia's 'special military operation' in Ukraine continues to falter.

Putin had lived in his official residence, Novo-Ogaryovo, outside Moscow until recently and also has a number of properties around Russia.

Recent disclosures revealed that he shares a forest palace with his mistress Kabaeva and their children on Lake Valdai.

Putin admitted to hosting Chinese president Xi Jinping in his Kremlin apartment when the leader visited Russia last week.

In a television interview, the tyrant said: "I have an apartment here, where I spend a lot of time lately. I work here and spend a lot of nights often."

Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov had made it clear that the president's decision to live close to his Kremlin office was linked directly to the conflict in Ukraine.

Asked how often the president lived there, Peskov said: "Very often since the beginning of the (special military operation in Ukraine).

"He uses this apartment as his work schedule is busy."

Putin is previously believed to have conducted most of his work away from the Kremlin.
