Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski have split after nine years of marriage.

The 40-year-old actress and Thomas, 50, have been separated "for a while" and they consider the split to be the best move for their family.

In a statement given to People, the former couple said: "We have been separated for a while, and it’s proven to be the right move for us and our family unit. We’ve got each other forever — and it’s good."

Amanda and Thomas met for the first time back in 2015, when they worked together on The Way We Get By, an off-Broadway play.

They got engaged later that year, before eloping in 2017.

Thomas said at the time: "We eloped. We just took off into the country with an officiant and, just the two of us, and we did our thing.

"It was beautiful. It was everything that it should be. It was just the two of us talking to each other."
