Sam Smith is already working on another album.

The 34-year-old singer will release Hazel Eyes, the follow-up to 2023's Gloria, this week, but they have been back in the studio making more music, which is "more electro and more intense" than their upcoming "traditiona queer-love romance" album.

Appearing on The New Yorker Radio Hour, Sam said: “The record I’m currently making right now, after Hazel Eyes...

"I’m working on another record. I’m inspired to do it. And it’s more electro and more intense. I just make all different weird sounds and scream into the microphone and free myself and sometimes those things get turned into wild things that you would never imagine.

Like Hazel Eyes, the new material is inspired by the contentment Sam has found with partner Christian Cowan, but in a more "naughty" sense.

Asked if it's also inspired by being in love, they replied: "It is, but it’s in a more naughty, playful way.

"Hazel Eyes is a new traditional queer-love romance album. That’s how I see it.

"And then I’ve just, whilst I’ve been making that, I’m also really hungry to shake my t****** and encapsulate the way that I feel in my relationship. I’m stil 34, and I love to dance, and I’m free, and I’m still inspired by intense, hyperpop electro sounds. And so I’m also doing that."
