George and Amal Clooney evacuate French home

George Clooney and Amal Clooney have been forced to evacuate from their home in France as wildfires continue to rage across Europe.

The couple and their nine-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, live in Brignoles, located in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region of the country, which has been threatened by fires that are spreading across France, Spain, Italy, and Greece.

In a letter to the mayor of Brignoles, Didier Bremond, the 65-year-old Oscar-winning actor confirmed that he, the 48-year-old human rights lawyer, and their children have evacuated from their home, and vowed to support their town regardless of the impact from the wildfires.

According to People, George penned: "Dear Didier, At this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment,” the letter began.

"As we evacuate Brignoles we want to emphasise 2 things, first we hope you and the people of our city are safe and second that Amal and I are committed to making sure that whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and we’ll be part of making it whole.

"We love Brignoles and our friends who live there."

According to CNN, approximately 224,000 people have been evacuated in the Gironde region of France, while 3,000 moved away from the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region because of the fires.

George and Amal moved their family to a French farm - reportedly bought for $8.3 million in 2021 - to make sure twins Alexander and Ella, eight, could grow up out of the spotlight.
