Chadwick Boseman once lavished praise on Colman Domingo at a celebrity party.

The Black Panther star - who died in August 2020, aged 43 - heaped praise on Colman, 56, during a chance meeting at the Motion Picture and Television Fund's Night Before Party on Oscars weekend.

Domingo - who did a "couple of play readings" with Chadwick, years before the party - told The Hollywood Reporter: "I'm like, 'Hi, hi, Chad. It's Colman. Do you remember me?'

"I said, 'I'm so proud of all your success and everything you're doing. It's so beautiful to watch your ascension.' He literally looked at me like this — [and he] said, 'Y'all need to know this guy right here. This guy is the truth.' I was like, 'Oh no, no.' He said, 'No, I'm telling you, know Colman Domingo's name. I know this man. Keep your eye on him.'"

The pair later appeared together in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, which became Chadwick's final film role. Domingo recalled the energy his co-star brought on their first day of filming.

He said: "He had huge hands, and he would point his finger at me and say, 'I can't wait to dance with you. Oh, we're gonna dance. We're gonna dance.'"
