Dua Lipa suing Samsung for 15 million dollars over allegations the electronics giant used her image without permission

Dua Lipa is suing Samsung for $15 million.

The Don't Start Now pop star has filed a lawsuit in California alleging the electronics giant used her image on packaging for the companies TVs without permission with the singer claiming she owns the copyright to the image - taken backstage at the Austin City Limits Festival in Texas in 2024 - which featured on the boxes of the Crystal 43in ultra-high- definition sets.

In the lawsuit, which was filed at the US District Court for the Central District of California on Friday (08.05.26), Lipa's attorney Christine Lepera wrote: “Samsung used a copyrighted image of Ms. Lipa without authority or licence and prominently featured it on the front of boxes containing Samsung-manufactured televisions for retail sale ...

"The substantial revenue made on the sale is inextricably tied to the false message conveyed to consumers that Ms. Lipa has endorsed the Infringing Products when she has not."

The Sun newspaper reports Samsung "ignored several legal warnings from [Dua Lipa's] team" about the use of the picture.

The publication added Dua Lipa is asking for a minimum of $15million in damages.

In the lawsuit, Lepera added the Radical Optimism star is "highly selective in her commercial partnerships" after striking deals with companies including Puma, Versace, and Yves Saint Laurent, while she has also worked with brands such as Apple, Porsche, Chanel and Nespresso.
