Pop superstars Five rose to fame after the release of their 1997 hit ‘’Slam Dunk (Da Funk)’. Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball with Barclaycard, they shared how being in the limelight in a world where anyone can message them via social media compares to being the subject of fame almost thirty years ago.
Member Ritchie Nevill said: "The difference for me I think is teeny bopper fame to adult fame. is like you're young, it's a new experience for you but also like I remember l'd walk past the school and then I'd be like what time is it? And you'd go it's 29 minutes past 3 and you'd actually properly like get scared and you'd run. You'd be like l've got to get out of here whereas now that's not. People come up and they're usually respectful and they're like really sorry to bother you, do you mind can I have a selfie? And it's a really nice interaction and it's not a stress."
Abs Love added: "I don't like how anyone can just reach you. I don't like anyone ho can just slide into your DMs any time they want. Yeah, I mean, • there are exceptions. There are exceptions."
