13 Going on 30 star Emily Bader recalls feeling 'paranoid'
Emily Bader has recalled feeling unsure of herself when she was cast in 13 Going on 30.
Emily Bader felt "paranoid" when she was cast in 13 Going on 30.
The 29-year-old actress has admitted to feeling anxious about the prospect of playing Jenna Rink, the character previously played by Jennifer Garner in 2004's 13 Going on 30.
Speaking to E! News, Emily shared: "I was paranoid a little bit.
"I was like, ‘OK, I have to make sure — I want to live up to this.’"
Emily actually received advice from Jennifer, 54, before she began shooting the reboot.
The movie star recalled: "She said, ‘My only advice for you is to have the best summer of your life'. And then I hung up and I was like, ‘That's terrible advice. What do I do with that?’"
Emily is a fan of the original movie, and she hopes that fans will embrace her effort, too.
She said: "It felt like a good time to be able to sort of reinvent this story for the new generation of people, so that they can feel the same way that I feel about that movie."
Jennifer serves as an executive producer on the new movie, and Emily ultimately relished having her input.
The actress shared: "There is that sense of you want her support.
"This is her baby. This is the thing that when you think of 13 Going on 30, you think of Jennifer Garner. She's not only been incredibly supportive, but she's taken care of me in this process and taught me so much. It's been incredible."
Emily has reunited with director Brett Haley, who helmed People We Meet On Vacation, for 13 Going on 30, and he previously revealed that he was looking forward to leading the project.
Haley told Deadline: "13 Going on 30 is one of those rare, perfect films.
"Funny, emotional, deeply human, with unforgettable performances from Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo and Judy Greer.
"I’m a longtime fan, so stepping into this reimagining comes with tremendous responsibility."
Haley also praised the cast of the new film, which includes Emily, Logan Lerman, and Jessica Alba.
He said: "I also couldn’t be more excited to reunite with Emily Bader after People We Meet on Vacation. She and the amazingly talented Logan Lerman are a magical pairing.
"I feel incredibly lucky to be trusted with something that means so much to so many people."
