Kim Kardashian had ‘gun pointed at her head’ during terrifying Kanye West trip
A former Keeping Up With the Kardashians executive producer has described an alleged confrontation involving armed police during the reality star’s 2018 visit to Uganda with her now ex-husband.
Kim Kardashian allegedly had a gun pointed at her head by a police officer during a trip to Africa with her then-husband Kanye West.
The reality television star and Skims founder, 46, travelled to Uganda with Kanye, 49, in 2018, when the rapper was working on music and the couple were still married.
Farnaz Farjam, a former executive producer of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, has now described the alleged incident in Jonathan Van Meter’s new biography, Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, claiming Kanye became increasingly suspicious of people around him while the group were filming at a remote location.
Farnaz said: “He basically got the local police to believe that there were people trying to drug him and so they came and they had guns out. He had them raid everybody’s rooms.”
She added: “At one point, one of the policemen had a gun to Kim’s head.”
The producer described the alleged confrontation as “intense” and said she subsequently left the location with members of her crew aboard a private jet.
According to Jonathan’s account, Farnaz said she had “first realized how bad things were for the couple” when Kanye became “paranoid and agitated” during their stay in Uganda.
The biography also reports Farnaz later forgave Kanye for the incident, which she referred to as the “Africa fiasco”, because of his bipolar disorder.
Jonathan wrote Farnaz forgave him “because he lives with bipolar disorder and he was in a manic place”.
The alleged incident occurred during a period when Kanye was attracting considerable attention for his public statements and behaviour.
The Grammy-winning musician, known for hits including Gold Digger, Stronger and Heartless, had travelled to Uganda while working on his planned album Yandhi.
Kim accompanied him on the trip, which also included a meeting with Uganda’s president, Yoweri Museveni.
She and Kanye, who married in 2014, subsequently separated after several years in which the rapper’s public statements and their relationship became subjects of widespread media coverage.
Kim filed for divorce from Kanye in 2021, with their separation finalised in 2022.
They share four children – North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, eight, and Psalm, seven.
The Kardashians star previously addressed Kanye’s bipolar disorder in a statement on Instagram in 2020, asking the public to show “compassion” and “empathy” towards her then-husband following a series of controversial public remarks.
Kim, who first became internationally famous through Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which ran from 2007 until 2021, has since discussed how the difficulties in her marriage affected her family life.
During an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast in October 2025, she spoke about the uncertainty she experienced while living with Kanye.
She said: “You never know what you’re going to get when you wake up.”
