Jennifer Lawrence's most 'brutal' piece of acting feedback came from her mom
Karen Lawrence could not help but point out something about her daughter, Jennifer Lawrence, while watching The Hunger Games at the 2012 film's premiere.
Jennifer Lawrence's mom has given her the most "brutal" piece of acting feedback.
Karen, now 70, made a comment when she and the Oscar winner, now 36, attended the premiere of the 2012 action-adventure film The Hunger Games, which starred Jennifer as the protagonist Katniss Everdeen.
On the latest episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, host Alex Cooper, 32, asked the entertainer for the "most brutal piece of acting feedback" she was "ever gotten" in her illustrious career.
Jennifer replied: "My mom, at the premiere of The Hunger Games, said she could tell in every scene when I had my period.
"Water retention, I guess."
The producer joked: "Imagine a day of me being on camera that doesn’t go through my mind."
Alex noted: "You now will never film when you're on your period. You're like, 'I'm so scared, don't put me on camera!'"
Jennifer, who reprises her role as Katniss in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, added: "I'm like, 'Well, I'll only be able to film for about 20 days."
Despite Karen's feedback, the No Hard Feelings alum declared her mom to be her biggest cheerleader.
Jennifer said: "She's the most supportive and the person I'm so excited to tell exciting news to.
"I think all moms do this where you're like, 'Guess what?' And they just say the craziest- as it will never live up to it.
"I'm like, 'Guess what?' And she's like, 'Oh my God, you wrote a movie, you're winning an Oscar for best writer, director, and you're acting in it, and just won an Oscar for that.'
"I'm like, 'No.'"
Jennifer previously insisted her appearance has changed because she is "ageing" - not because of plastic surgery.
In November 2023, the Die, My Love cast member told Interview magazine: "I started at 19, so I get the before and after pictures from when I’m 19 to 30 and I’m like, 'I grew up. I lost baby weight in my face, and my face changed because I’m ageing.'
"Everybody thought I had a nose job, and I’m like, 'I’ve had the exact same nose. My cheeks got smaller. Thank you for bringing it up.'"
Jennifer highlighted the influence of Hung Vanngo, the acclaimed make-up artist.
She explained: "I also think it’s incredible what make-up can do because I work with Hung, who overlines the lip, and I call him a plastic surgeon, because everybody in the last few months since I’ve been working with him is convinced that I had eye surgery."
