Kim Kardashian has a “lockdown” procedure in place to protect her kids from any harmful news stories about her or their dad Kanye West.
The reality TV star shares North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, eight, and seven-year-old Psalm with the rapper, from whom she filed for divorce in February 2021.
While both Kim and Kanye have moved on from the failed marriage - she’s dating racing driver Lewis Hamilton while he’s now married to Bianca Censori - their names are rarely out of the headlines, and it can make things difficult for their children.
So the 46-year-old has steps in place to shield her kids from any negative reports.
In Jonathan Van Meter’s book Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, Kim said: “My whole household knows what a ‘lockdown’ means if I text it. Like, ‘We’re on lockdown.’
“No TVs, just movies. No radio, just plug in a phone for music in the car. Not even, like, Sirius XM, because they talk about current events in real time.
“It’s like, They don’t have to be a party to this.”
Kim also hinted that things aren’t great between her and Kanye, but told the author that she’ll always worry about the rapper, who regularly hits headlines thanks to his attention-grabbing antics.
She said: “Oh, I worry about (Kanye) all day. All the time. That’s the father of my kids, I’ll never not worry about him. And that’s a big burden of having kids with someone who you don’t necessarily get along with. My kids would never know that.
“I do everything in my power to forget about all the negative things that happened. I have to be realistic, and my therapist definitely tells me, ‘Your boundaries have to go up,’ but we manage to co-parent without too much conflict.”
Kim added that the lack of communication between the pair means that things have been “pretty smooth” running recently.
She said: “It’s been pretty smooth for a while. I guess because we don’t talk that much. But when we see each other, we give each other a hug.”
And despite the fact she’s no longer in a relationship with Kanye, Kim remains on good terms with his family members.
She gushed: “I’m really close with his family. I welcome anyone. I tell them all, open-door policy,” she shared. “Anytime you’re in town, come for dinner with us, see the kids as much as you want, take them out, come over and hang out.”
