Cara Delevingne reveals bizarre lesbian sex party disaster
The supermodel and actress has opened up about an unforgettable romantic encounter while discussing her sobriety, relationship with musician Minke and her changing attitude towards love as she embarks on a new chapter in her career.
Cara Delevingne has revealed one of the worst dates of her life involved a lesbian sex party in a brightly lit gymnasium. Confessing the bizarre experience left her desperate to make a quick exit, the 34-year-old supermodel and actress recalled the encounter during an appearance on Cosmopolitan’s celebrity interview series Blind Date, where she discussed her past relationships, sobriety and romance with British musician Minke, whose real name is Leah Mason. Cara, who has previously spoken openly about her struggles with alcohol and drugs, also revealed how giving up drinking has transformed her approach to relationships.
Recalling the disastrous date, Cara said: “I went to a lesbian sex party once. That was bad. I left quickly; nothing happened. Just be wary of sex parties, you never know, they can be bad… It was bad.”
She added: “It was, like, in a gymnasium and the lights were really bright. I went in a mask and, like, we were all attached to each other.”
Describing the unusual scene, Cara continued: “And it wasn't that. It wasn't that at all. Everyone was wearing, like, kitten heels. I don't know how to describe it. It wasn't good.”
The actress, who rose to fame as one of the world's most recognizable supermodels before moving into Hollywood, is now in a relationship with Leah, who performs under the name Minke.
Cara told Cosmopolitan sobriety had changed the way she experienced romantic relationships, leaving her feeling more emotionally exposed.
She said: “There's nothing to hide behind. They see everything and kind of before we met again and gotten together, I had sworn off love forever.”
Cara added: “I was like, 'I'm done. I'm never being in another relationship'. But my body felt very safe with her, and I can't really describe why.”
The couple's relationship followed Cara's decision to address her substance use, a subject she has discussed publicly in interviews about her mental health and recovery.
Her latest revelations come as the British star continues to expand her career beyond the fashion industry, having recently launched a solo music project.
Earlier this year, Cara announced her debut double singles, I Forgot and Out of My Head, alongside an 11-date tour taking in venues across the UK, Europe and North America.
The move followed previous musical collaborations with artists including St. Vincent, 44, and Fiona Apple, 49.
Cara has also continued acting, having appeared in major productions including Suicide Squad, the fantasy television series Carnival Row and the hit comedy-mystery series Only Murders in the Building.
Her latest film project, the A24 comedy-drama Club Kid, saw her star alongside Jordan Firstman, 35, and Diego Calva, 34.
The film follows a New York underground party promoter and premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.
