Emily Osment "cracked a rib" while wearing an almost 13-pound prosthetic pregnancy bump on Young Sheldon.

The 34-year-old actress played expectant mom Mandy McAllister on the CBS sitcom, and while she enjoyed being part of The Big Bang Theory prequel, the role did come with some physical challenges.

USA Today published an excerpt from Jessica Radloff's new book, Young Sheldon: The (Juicier-Than-Meemaw's-Brisket) Inside Story of the Hit Comedy, in which Emily described wearing the prosthetic baby bump as "the hardest part" of the experience.

She added: "That was tough. It was twelve and a half pounds of silicone. They tried out a couple of ’em, and the ones that look the most real are the ones that make you walk funny so you can really pull it off."

Emily sometimes wore the bump for up to 12 hours to avoid the hassle of taking it off and putting it back on, as it required multiple layers of bodysuits and clothing.

However, the added weight took a physical toll on the star.

Emily revealed: "I actually cracked a rib while wearing it for so long, and went to the hospital because I was having such horrible pain in my side.

"The nurses were like, 'Has anything changed in your life recently?' I was like, 'Well, I'm pretending to be pregnant for my job, and I'm wearing something really heavy, and they're like, 'That makes sense.'"

The entertainer noted the injury forced her to "sit down as much as possible between takes", adding: "There's not really much you can do for a rib."

Mandy gave birth to her and Georgie Cooper's (Montana Jordan's) daughter Constance "CeeCee" Cooper in the season six episode, A Launch Party and a Whole Human Being.

It comes after Georgie, Sheldon's (Iain Armitage‘s) older brother, got Mandy pregnant when he was just 17 and she was 29.

When they first met, Georgie lied about his age, claiming he was 21. Mandy also lied, saying she was 25.

The truth came out after they started dating, and Mandy subsequently found out she was pregnant with CeeCee.

Her birth spawned the spin-off Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage, which first aired on CBS in October 2024, five months after Young Sheldon ended its seven-year run.
