Ellen DeGeneres is thinking about returning to TV in the UK.

The US comedian's long-running self-titled daytime talk show ended in 2022 after 19 seasons, two years after it came under fire over allegations of a toxic workplace, and while she's settled into her new life in Britain with wife Portia de Rossi, she admitted she "misses" the joy of working on a television programme and is ready to get back to work.

Speaking on Friday's (16.10.26) episode of The Graham Norton Show, she said: “I’ve nothing really going on and I really miss being on TV. I miss a lot about it – laughing with the writers and the audience. I think about doing stuff here.”

She jokingly added: “I think it is pretty easy to get on TV here – you have a pottery show, you have a sewing show, and you even have a show about people watching TV shows!”

The 68-year-old star famously came out as a lesbian in 1997 and shortly afterwards, her character in sitcom Ellen did too, and the presenter admitted she felt honoured by the positive reaction she received in the UK, because it wasn't so well received in the US.

She said: “In the US they were not very thrilled about my character or me coming out so for it to be celebrated in London was such an honour.

"To be treated that way when everyone else was done with me was extraordinary.”

Ellen previously claimed that "everything" is "just better" in the UK and she and Portia adore their rural lifestyle.

She told broadcaster Richard Bacon: "It's absolutely beautiful. We're just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture - everything you see is charming and it's just a simpler way of life.

"It's clean. Everything here is just better - the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.

"We moved here in November, which was not the ideal time, but I saw snow for the first time in my life. We love it here. Portia flew her horses here, and I have chickens, and we had sheep for about two weeks."

Ellen also confirmed that she and her wife moved to the UK because of President Donald Trump's re-election.

She said: “We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, ‘He got in’. And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here.’”

The Graham Norton Show airs on BBC One on Friday night and is also available on BBC iPlayer.
