Sylvester Stallone is an 'idiot' for doing his own stunts
Sylvester Stallone has "millions of regrets" about the onset injuries he's sustained over the years admitting he shouldn't have sacrificed his health for his movie stunts.
Sylvester Stallone thinks he's an "idiot" for doing his own stunts and has "millions of regrets" over his onset injuries.
The Rocky star has suffered a multitude of health issues over the years stemming from his career as a movie action man and he now admits he wishes he'd let other people "do their job" instead of tackling the stunts himself and he now has to "make peace with the pain".
He told Fox News: "[I have] millions, millions of regrets. I could literally spend a half hour talking about injuries, the amount, not even like one, I'm talking about 30 hours, 30 minutes of just individual ones, because it becomes compounded."
Stallone revealed his work on The Expendables franchise left him with the worst injuries and he needed numerous surgeries in an attempt to fix all the damage.
He said: "I have been injured many, many times, but after Expendables, I ended up with nine back operations, three neck fusions. Both shoulders ripped out, eye, you know, all kinds of lens put ... it's been brutal."
Stallone added: "So you're never quite the same ... Now you have to make peace with the pain as much as you can. And the moral of the message is: Let other people do their job. Don't be a stage hawk or whatever you call it . A show boat."
The Rambo star went on to double down on his advice for other actors who are thinking about doing their own stunts instead of letting the professionals take care of the dangerous moves during filming.
He added: "I know a lot of people are thinking about doing stunts. Don't. Let the pro do it. Let me explain something. You can't beat gravity. When you hit the ground, you lose. It's going to come back. Just ask every football player in the world.
"People say aren't you proud and I'm like: 'No, I"m an idiot for doing it. I'm not proud that I broke myself in pieces. Like, duh, no."
Stallone previously claimed he almost died on 'he set of 1985 boxing movie Rocky IV as his co-star Dolph Lundgren nearly stopped his heart with a hefty punch to the chest.
Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival in France in 2019, Stallone said: "He hit me so hard he almost stopped my heart.
"I told him, ‘Why don’t we just do it? Just try to knock me out. Really cut loose as hard as you can.' That was a really stupid thing to say.
"Next thing I know, I’m on a low-altitude plane to the emergency room, and I’m in intensive care for four days. And there are all these nuns around."
