Miranda Lambert is thrilled to see so many female country artists "winning".

The 42-year-old singer became the poster child for critical and commercial success during her early years in country music - but Miranda thinks the industry has become more meritocratic in recent times.

She told Southern Living: "The way music is heard now and the way it’s delivered to the public, it’s like they’re in charge. They pick what they love. It’s not like we’re all fighting for the same 30 spots on the country charts anymore."

Miranda is particularly pleased that so many female artists are currently thriving.

She explained: "Country music always has stages and phases and ups and downs, but I haven’t seen this many women winning since probably the 1990s. When I say ‘winning,’ I don’t mean awards. I mean just being out there doing the damn thing. It’s really good to see. I know what that takes, so I respect it a lot and am thankful to be part of it."

Fellow country star Allison Moorer has admitted to having huge admiration for Miranda's talent and everything she's achieved in the music business.

Allison said: "I don’t think her influence stops with women. She’s always stood head and shoulders above most everyone else because she’s that good and she’s that talented at all of it—the songwriting, the records, and the shows."

Meanwhile, Miranda previously admitted to feeling inspired by younger artists.

The singer has already achieved fame and success in her own career - but Miranda has drawn inspiration from new and younger artists in recent times.

She told the Dumb Blonde podcast: "Being around that new fire and young people that are so hungry and so inspired is like, 'I want some of that,' you know. And I wanna give them some of the wisdom and some of the reminders [to] enjoy the ride."

Despite her success, Miranda still feels able to relate to younger artists, and she's determined to lend her support to them.

The award-winning country music star said: "I wanna just be there for anybody that just needs a sounding board because I've been there."
