Benson Boone recalls fan walking in on him in toilet with pants 'fully at my ankles'
Benson Boone did not realise he and the audience were sharing a toilet at one of his concerts.
Benson Boone was left "horrified" after a fan unexpectedly walked in on him using a toilet with his pants "fully at [his] ankles" at his own concert.
The Beautiful Things hitmaker and two of his pals thought it would be funny to revive their unusual childhood habit of completely removing their pants while using a urinal at the gig's venue - unaware the space was being shared by the audience.
Benson, 24, heard someone enter the toilet and assumed it was a friend, but instead, he was met by a shocked concertgoer who gasped after seeing the entertainer.
Revealing the awkward moment, which happened two and a half years ago, on the latest episode of Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne's Life Uncut Podcast, the Grammy nominee recalled: "Backstage, I didn’t have a bathroom for some reason.
"The bathroom that I had was shared with the audience bathroom. So, like, anyone in the audience could be in the bathroom that I was in, and I didn’t know that."
Benson explained that when he and his friends were younger, they would take their pants off completely while using urinals in public restrooms.
The Better Alone star added: "Usually, you know, you just unzip and let it rip. And you don’t have to, like, take off your pants, right?
"Well, we do a thing where we just fully take off our pants. And we’re standing there with a shirt on but no pants on. So I walk in there, drop the drawers. They are fully at my ankles, and I have started taking the p***.
"It was funny ‘cause like you have to take your pants all the way off and then get them all the way back up before someone outside comes in because if someone comes in and catches you doing that, you know, it’s really awkward and funny looking."
Benson and his pals decided to do that again at the amphitheatre where his tour kicked off, as they thought their toilet was private.
He said: "I walk in there, drop the drawers. They are fully at my ankles. And I have started taking the p***. So once you start, you can’t stop, or it hurts."
The star heard someone walk into the toilet, but he "didn't look over because I assumed it would be one of my mates".
Benson revealed: "It wasn't. It was a fan coming to the show, and he just stopped and [gasped].
"And I heard the gasp, and that's when I turned."
After the fan recognised the entertainer, Benson asked if he was attending the show.
The artist remembered: "And he goes, 'Yeah.' And I was like, 'What are you doing back here?' And he’s like, 'Uh, this is the bathroom. What are you doing back here?'
"It was so awkward. I was horrified. Luckily, great guy. He was super cool."
Benson said the embarrassing moment ended with him "pulling up my drawers" and shaking the supporter's hand before he washed his.
