Pete Davidson hated his personal life overshadowing his comedy career.
The 32-year-old actor shot to stardom on Saturday Night Live, the long-running TV comedy show, but Pete ultimately became more famous for his love life than for his on-screen antics.
The comedian - who has previously dated the likes of Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley, Kaia Gerber, and Phoebe Dynevor - told Variety: "I was part of the problem of what I hated the most, which was the invasiveness around my personal life. I was just lobbing it up and continuing the narrative."
Pete became determined to change the narrative after turning 30.
The actor said: "When I turned 30 and I was there, it was a real low point. Nothing much was going on with my career and I was like, ‘This f****** sucks. I can’t do it anymore.’ And it can’t be for anyone or for a job. You really have to want it, and when you’re done, you’re done."
Despite this, Pete admitted to having a "cool" relationship with Ariana, his ex-fiancee.
He said: "I think Ariana’s f****** cool and immensely talented and an awesome girl. We’re not texting or whatever, but we’re cool."
Meanwhile, Pete previously revealed that he's found the focus on his personal life to be "traumatic".
The comedian has dated a host of famous women over the years, but Pete felt frustrated that people often knew him for his high-profile love life, rather than his comedy talent.
The movie star - who has daughter Scottie, ten months, with ex-partner Elsie Hewitt - said on The Breakfast Club: "It just got to a point where I was ... I got really tired of my whole career just being like my personal life. And living through that is it's sort of traumatic. Like not to be like lame, but like it's traumatic to live in your own crap all the time."
