Dave Franco reveals how he 'relates' to Forgotten Island character
Dave Franco has reflected on the experience of making Forgotten Island, his new movie.
Dave Franco is able to "relate" to his Forgotten Island character.
The 41-year-old actor voices the part of Raww - a well-meaning but hapless were-aspin, a mythical shapeshifter - in Forgotten Island, the new animated comedy film, and Dave can see some similarities between his on-screen character and his real-life self.
The Hollywood star told E! News: "I think there's some crossover with who I am in real life.
"The people that he loves, he loves deeply; he's a very loyal guy, and you know, deep down, he just wants to be loved. I can relate."
Dave also heaped praise on the film's directors, Joel Crawford and Januel P. Mercado.
Asked what drew him to the project, Dave explained: "First and foremost, the directors.
"These are the guys who made Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, an objectively incredible animated movie. And when I first talked to them, they were referencing movies that I loved.
"They were talking about how Forgotten Island has a similar structure to The Hangover and similar friendship themes to Superbad and other themes to Eternal Sunshine, and so I just immediately knew, like, ‘Oh, I feel like we have similar sensibilities.’"
Meanwhile, Dave is married to fellow movie star Alison Brie, and he previously revealed that they once made love on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland.
The actor - who has been married to Alison since 2017 - said on the Call Her Daddy podcast: "Something may have happened at one point on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
"The f***** up part about that is, I think there’s cameras on every inch of that place, but we were pretty covert. We’ll leave it at that..."
Dave starred alongside his wife in Together, the 2025 supernatural body horror film, but he actually prefers to keep his personal life out of the spotlight.
He shared: "I generally am [a private person], which makes doing promo for any movie a little strange because it’s not me in my element.
"But at the same time, I’ve also gotten much better at this where I recognise this is a big part of my job and I’m just going to lean in and I’m going to do my best and I’m going to be as vulnerable as I can be."
