Sharon Stone received messages from "five orbs" after her near-fatal stroke.

The 68-year-old star has reflected on her recovery after suffering a near death health scare back in 2001, which left her dealing with unusual dreams as she slept during the day.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, she told the upcoming debut episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown: “When I was first home from the hospital, I couldn’t sleep at night and I was sleeping in the day.

“When I was laying on the couch, sleeping and awake, these orbs sort of presented themselves to me.

"These five orbs presented themselves to me and they sort of talked to me, but in a digital language.”

Sharon never told anyone about the unexplainable experience, but she claimed the orbs gave her a hint of what was to come.

She said: "I just kept saying to them, ‘I don’t know if I’m supposed to stay here or if I’m supposed to die'.

“And they said, ‘You’re supposed to stay.’ And I said, ‘I can only stay if two of you will stay with my son. Because I don’t want him to be alone, and I think he’s gonna get taken from me.’”

At the time of her stroke, the Basic Instinct actress and her then-husband Phil Bronstein's adopted son Roan was just one year old.

The couple got divorced in 2004, and Sharon lost custody, but felt the orbs would keep their side of the deal.

She added: “Sure enough, he was taken from me. And I said, ‘We have to have an agreement. The two of you will stay with him and protect him.’

"And they agreed. And they said, ‘But your destiny requires that we stay with you.’”

Sharon, who later adopted sons Laird, 21, and Quinn, 20, has had a close relationship with Roan over the years.

The Hollywood actress previously admitted that the whole incident had "one hundred percent" changed her outlook on life.

Asked if the stroke had changed the way she thought, she told The Hollywood Reporter: "Totally. One hundred percent. A Buddhist monk told me that I had been reincarnated into my same body. I had a death experience and then they brought me back.

"I bled into my brain for nine days, so my brain was shoved to the front of my face. It wasn’t positioned in my head where it was before. And while that was happening, everything changed.

"My sense of smell, my sight, my touch. I couldn’t read for a couple of years. Things were stretched and I was seeing colour patterns. A lot of people thought I was going to die.

"People took advantage of me over that time. I had $18 million saved because of all my success, but when I got back into my bank account, it was all gone. My refrigerator, my phone — everything was in other people’s names.

"I had zero money."
