Este Haim believes couples should "always be dating" to keep their relationships fresh.

The 40-year-old singer - who married Chainalysis co-founder-and-CEO Jonathan Levin at a boutique hotel in Ojai, California, on New Year's Eve 2025 - thinks those with partners should constantly be "working toward" creating a "better relationship".

Este - who is bassist and a vocalist of pop-rock trio Haim, which she formed with her younger sisters Danielle, 37, and Alana, 34 - told PEOPLE: "Keep pursuing, even if you’re in a relationship.

"You should always be dating. You should always be working toward having a better relationship.

"Relationships are work, and I think people forget about that."

For those who don't have a partner, Este has encouraged singletons to "go have a good time".

She added: "If you’re single, go have fun. You know, we’re on a spinning rock in a vast universe, like, go have a good time, yeah."

While Este is no longer single, the star recently told how she wishes she had taken more time to absorb her wedding in the moment.

When asked for her wedding advice, she told PEOPLE: "Have as much fun as possible. Just enjoy it.

"I was so overwhelmed. I mean, I enjoyed my wedding so much. But I wish that I had also just stopped for a second and took it in. I didn't get to do that.

"Just take it in for a second, and just have the best time. Have so much fun. All those people might not be in the same room ever again."

Este and Jonathan try to spend as much time as possible together.

Quizzed on the best aspect of married life, The Wire hitmaker shared: "My husband's just like, also really independent. But when we're together, we just all have a great time together. That is so good. If I'm really being honest, it's not different.

"We still do the same s***. We just love each other and have fun together. And I'm always like, ‘We better still be dating forever.' As long as we do that - always be dating - we'll be fine."

But Este wasn't always lucky in love.

She previously told how an ex-boyfriend dumped her because she has type 1 diabetes.

In an interview with Britain's GQ magazine, Este said: "I had a guy break up with me because I said that there was a possibility that our kid would have diabetes.

"He was like, 'Then why are we here?' And I was like, 'What?!' "
