Minnie Driver involved in horror car crash
Minnie Driver is recovering from a sprained neck and shock following the incident on a country road in France.
Minnie Driver is "so grateful to be alive" after she and her friend Ben Homewood were involved in a "really bad" car crash while driving on a country road in France.
The 56-year-old actress is recovering from a sprained neck and shock after the Kia EV2 driven by the actor was "T-boned" by a vehicle allegedly "going at speed" and "didn't stop at an intersection" in a crash that she said was "not our fault" and forced them to "crawl out" from the wreckage.
In a video posted on Instagram on Thursday (06.08.26), an emotional Minnie wore a neck brace as she explained the incident to her fans and praised the Kia EV2's design and its 360-degree airbags for saving their lives.
The Good Will Hunting star said: "Hi, guys. Paris update is that I'm actually back in London. I'm sorry about the filter I put on this, but honestly, without it, I just looked appalling; even the dog wouldn't look at me.
"I got into a really bad car accident a few days ago with my friend Ben, and we somehow walked out of it. Well, we didn't walk out of it. We crawled out of it. But we did get out of it alive.
"To be very clear, it was not our fault. We were driving on a country road in the middle of France, and a car didn't stop at an intersection, and was going at speed, and we just T-boned it.
"I'm fine. I've got a sprained neck, and I'm really in shock, and sort of cry all the time, but I'm gonna heal.
"The reason that I'm not dead, honestly, is the car that we were driving. We were in this little, tiny Kia EV2. I've never been in a crash before, but the 360-degree airbags are what saved our lives.
"The fact that the entire car didn't just concertina and crush us is down to the design of that car, which is, frankly, astonishing."
Minnie continued: "Well, this is categorically not a car AD. Can you imagine? If that's what I was doing. I want to celebrate that car. I'm a mini driver, pun intended. I need to celebrate the car that saved us because we've got families and people who love us, and I am so grateful to be alive.
"So, Kia, you are a baller car company. You're amazing. And thanks very much from me and my mate, Ben Homewood. And my family and the people who love me."
A shot of the wreckage popped up on screen, which revealed the full extent of the damage caused by the crash.
The clip ended with a picture of Ben and Minnie walking down a hospital hallway with their arms around each other after the incident.
Minnie captioned the video by admitting the crash "keeps replaying" in her mind and thanking everyone who has supported her and Ben in its aftermath.
The Run Away alum penned: "Shout out to the van driver who stopped and helped us before the ambulances arrived. Special mention to the car who slowed down took in the scene and drove off without stopping. I guess this is the Dao of the world, the light and the dark.
"My brain keeps replaying the crash which is very hard but seems to be a necessary part of processing. Weeping too, feels good and helpful.
"Thank you to my friends, my family, all the people at work and especially my friend Ben and his family. I love you. (sic)"
Minnie's fans were relieved she is fine and wished her a speedy recovery, as one penned: "Oh no. I am so sorry. Sending you and your friend healing vibes from Boston."
A second supporter typed: "How frightening, Minnie! Thank goodness all of you walked away."
And a third follower wrote: "Sending gentle hugs and much love (sic)."
