New Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wedding details emerge in permit paperwork
Newly obtained documents outline the strict operational requirements organisers reportedly had to follow before the singer and NFL star's high-profile Madison Square Garden ceremony in New York City.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Madison Square Garden wedding was reportedly subject to extensive permit conditions imposed by New York City authorities.
The singer-songwriter and the NFL star, both 36, married on 3 July following a week-long build-up at the iconic New York venue, and documents have now offered fresh insight into the planning behind the couple’s high-profile celebration.
According to Us Weekly, permit applications submitted by Winick Productions to the New York City Mayor’s Office covered the period from 28 June to 4 July and outlined a series of operational requirements for what was described as a “Special Event at Madison Square Garden – 7.3”.
The paperwork obtained by the outlet shows organisers were required to ensure “all cables” were “securely covered for safe pedestrian passage”, while an emergency lane had to be “maintained at all times”.
The documents also stated parking could only be held 24 hours in advance and interior and exterior areas “may be subject to FDNY inspections”.
Also according to the paperwork, organisers were instructed to keep “minimal noise” after 10pm.
The permit further stipulated there should be no interaction with pedestrian plazas, green spaces or bike lanes, while activity was prohibited within 15 feet of any restaurant “actively participating in open dining”.
The documents also required there be “no construction of pedestrian and vehicular traffic flow”, with a “safe pedestrian flow” maintained “at all times”.
Additional conditions included “no parking in a no stopping zone”, “no parking at bus stops” and a prohibition on trucks idling or leaving detached trailers.
According to Us Weekly, Winick Productions informed the Mayor’s Office the event carried a $2 million insurance policy valid from 9 August 2025 until 9 August 2026.
The production company also said approximately 50 trucks would require access to Madison Square Garden during the set-up and breakdown of the event.
Earlier this month, a source told Us Weekly Taylor and Travis were planning a “whimsical” celebration.
In the days leading up to the ceremony, trucks were seen arriving at Madison Square Garden carrying technical equipment, decorations and catering supplies.
On the day of the wedding, Us Weekly reported deliveries included food from Bradley Cooper’s cheesesteak company and New York pizza restaurant Mama’s Too.
Sources with knowledge of the event told the publication the couple ordered more than 100 pizzas for guests.
Comedian Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony.
And rather than choosing traditional bridesmaids and groomsmen, Taylor’s brother, Austin Swift, served as her man of honour, while Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, was his best man.
One source told Us Weekly: “Taylor was emotional while reciting her vows but kept her composure.
“You could tell she put a lot of work and time into writing her vows. Travis teared up more than Taylor. They shared very personal details and anecdotes that some guests had never even heard before.”
Multiple sources also told Us Weekly Taylor walked down the aisle to a string quartet version of her 2008 hit Love Story.
After the couple exchanged vows, digital billboards outside Madison Square Garden displayed the message: “JusT T Married”.
Another source told Us Weekly: “The whole night felt really intimate and personal despite being in an arena and how star-studded the guest list was.
“There were about 1,000 guests there, but it felt intimate.”
The latest details have emerged after widespread coverage of the wedding ceremony, which reportedly brought together around 1,000 guests.
Taylor has also dominated headlines in recent years due to her record-breaking Eras Tour and the continued success of The Tortured Poets Department album.
Travis, meanwhile, continues to be one of the NFL’s biggest names following multiple Super Bowl victories with the Chiefs and hosts his successful New Heights podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce.
