David Beckham has hilariously poked fun at wife Victoria after her stony face at the World Cup quarter final saw her made into a meme.
The Spice Girls star found herself making headlines when she appeared emotionless after England beat Norway in their semi-final match at the worldwide football tournament.
As her husband David and kids Romeo and Cruz punched their hands in the air and screamed in delight at the win, Victoria stayed seated, and failed to raise a smile.
One person wrote on social media: “People are often critical of Victoria Beckham but to see this outpouring of emotion here from her as England scores a goal shows her deep connection with both football and the team.”
While another wrote: “You guys don't understand. It is improper for Lady Vic to shows her emotions in public, least of all to you commoners.”
Others defended her, with one writing: “Who gives a f*** what she likes. She’s there to support her family. Good for her for keeping it real.”
And another added: “Leave her alone. She's married to a football legend doesn't mean she loves the game. Heck, Becks might not have a Spice Girls song on his playlist.”
Comedian Jenny Johnson also weighed in, sharing the images on Instagram and writing alongside them: “I wanted to take a moment to single out @england’s number one fan Victoria, Lady Beckham!!!!
“There’s nothing like cheering your heart out for England from home, then they cut to Victoria, and we see that classic Posh Spice smile!
"It’s so infectious! I used to think I got animated while watching sports, but Victoria blows my enthusiasm out of the water! Each time I see her I shout, 'SPICE UP YOUR LIFE!!!!' because her energy is electric!!! See for yourself!"
Following people poking fun at Victoria, former footballer David took to his social media to have his say.
Responding to Jenny he wrote: “She was celebrating inside I promise. Her reactions were slightly slower than mine.”
He was quickly praised for defending his wife, with one writing: “@davidbeckham good for you, for defending your wife. True gentleman.”
As another joked: "@davidbeckham she’s probably tired after celebrating for all your goals in the past."
