Jennifer Lopez should have become single 'sooner'
Actress/singer Jennifer Lopez has suggested she waited too long to end her marriage to Ben Affleck by declaring she "should have" become single "sooner"
Jennifer Lopez has suggested she waited too long to end her marriage to Ben Affleck admitting she should have become single "sooner".
The 56-year-old singer/actress originally dated her Gigli co-star from 2002 to 2004 before they reunited in 2021, tying the knot the following year but splitting just two years later, and now the Hustlers star has confessed she waited too long to start enjoying life on her own.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host asked: "You're single right now?" and Jennifer replied: "I am!' ... I should have done it sooner ... I've been doing it all wrong. I've been doing it all wrong, trust me."
Jimmy went on to ask Jennifer if she would ever consider joining TV dating show The Bachelorette and she replied: "No. Are you crazy? I'm not doing anything to ruin how I feel right now. No. It's fantastic [being single]. I love it."
Jennifer went on to add she's hopeful about finding love again in the future but she insisted another partner would have to be "good enough" for her.
She said: "I'll meet somebody somewhere one day if they're good enough ... [But] I'm good right now, where I'm at."
It comes after Jennifer declared she's in her "happy era" following her divorce from Ben.
In an interview on Nightline in Marchm she said: “I’m in my happy era. I think, for the first time in my life, I feel like I’m free; I’m on my own. And it feels really good.
"I didn’t really know what that felt like since I was in my early 20s - and even before that. I’ve always had boyfriends. There was always someone in my life, and so many things that I felt like were out of my control.
"I’ve gotten to the point where I really trust myself and appreciate myself a little bit more, instead of being so hard on myself and always trying to prove myself."
Jennifer - who has 18-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony - admitted she "took a year off" when her marriage to Ben ended and forced herself to process her feelings instead of looking for a distraction.
She said: “I had to stop everything and I took a year off. I cancelled tours and just decided to be home and sit in what had happened without running away from it through work, through another person, through anything - just sit."
