Kelly Clarkson sheds tears on TV talk show, but why?
Pop star Kelly Clarkson was reduced on a TV show.
Kelly Clarkson was reduced to tears as she reflected on the end of her TV talk show.
The 44-year-old pop star previously announced that she was calling time on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the talk show that she launched in 2019, and Kelly became visibly emotional while speaking to Rita Wilson about the decision.
Rita, 69, told Kelly on the show: "I just want to say one thing before we go. I want to thank you for the years that you've been doing your show. I want to thank you for literally changing the game when it came to daytime television.
"The fact that you love music, that you have brought so much music to daytime, that you have shared with us your voice, your gifts and everyone else's and your incredible band."
Rita concluded by telling Kelly directly how much the show had meant to her personally, causing tears to well up in Kelly's eyes. An emotional Kelly joked: "I'm not crying!"
The pop singer then added more seriously: "That's so nice."
Kelly - who has River, 11, and Remy, nine, with her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock - previously announced her plans to quit the TV show via a statement on Instagram.
The singer wrote: "I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,' both in Los Angeles and New York. There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons. I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show and to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner. Kelly revealed that she planned to spend more time with her kids, following the death of their father in August, aged 48.
The former American Idol winner said: "This was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show'. Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives. (sic)"
