Brooke Shields is "probably more self-conscious" than she used to be while shooting sex scenes.

The 60-year-old actress is starring in a new murder mystery series called You’re Killing Me, and Brooke has reflected on how the entertainment industry has changed during her time in the spotlight.

Brooke - who began her career as a child model, before moving into the film business - told People: "Now they have intimacy coaches and they tape stuff.

"I mean they did tape stuff to me when I was younger and I had body doubles so that was very different for me. And now I want a body double and they won’t give it to me! So they’re equally ridiculous.

"There's a hundred people standing around you. I think I’m probably more self-conscious now than I was when I was younger because things need to be lifted so I’ve got to have a pulley system to lift 'the girls’ up."

In You’re Killing Me, Brooke's on-screen character - a best-selling crime novelist called Allison Chandler - has an attraction to Tom Cavanagh, a police detective.

And Brooke has teased how their dynamic might evolve during their time on the show.

She said: "They butt heads and that makes their attraction even stronger.

"We don’t know yet whether there will be a full-on coupling of the two of us ... but this game where we spar intellectually and catch each other on things is just charming. He's got a twinkle that he knows very well how to access."

Meanwhile, Brooke previously admitted that she felt uncomfortable discussing her body as a teenager.

The actress was asked about her "measurements" by TV host Barbara Walters when she was just 15, and Brooke recalled feeling deeply uncomfortable at the time.

Brooke - who has been married to film director Chris Henchy since 2001 - told the Dinner's On Me podcast: "It's also insane that Barbara Walters asked me my measurements."

Brooke went along with the question in the moment but she now wishes she had handled it differently.

The model - who was married to sports star Andre Agassi between 1997 and 1999 - said: "I did it. Like, I didn't brush it off or anything. If someone asked me that now, I'd come back with some kind of a quip."
