John Stamos has shared an emotional final photograph with late friend and co-star Bob Saget as family and friends marked what would have been the Full House star’s 70th birthday.

The actor, 62, posted a picture showing himself alongside Bob’s widow Kelly Rizzo and his wife Caitlin McHugh standing together by the ocean in tribute to his late friend.

The image, shared on John’s Instagram, was emblazoned with the words “last pic” in red.

Bob died in January 2022 at the age of 65 after suffering a fatal head injury in a hotel room in Orlando following a stand-up performance.

His death shocked fans worldwide and devastated the cast of Full House, the family comedy series that made him a household name alongside John, Dave Coulier, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin and twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

John also wrote online in his picture tribute: “We used to throw each other great birthday parties. Your 70th today would’ve been epic! I miss you and love you.”

Kelly also posted tributes to Bob on what would have been his milestone birthday on Sunday (17.05.26), reflecting on the couple’s final birthday trip together in Mexico.

Alongside a photograph of the pair embracing, Kelly wrote: “His last birthday in Mexico. We had the best trip, this was his happy place.”

She added: “Relaxing at a resort with a cigar and some tequila eating some amazing ceviche and tacos and soaking up the sun laying by the pool.

“He really knew how to enjoy life and he loved bringing along people with him for the ride and watching them enjoy life to the fullest as well. He just wanted to share all of the beautiful delicious wonderful amazing.”

Kelly later reflected on the life she believed Bob would still be leading had he survived.

She wrote: “Happy heavenly 70th birthday. Wow… 70.

“I always think about what Bob would be doing and what he’d be like if he were still here. First of all, he would absolutely want everyone to know he was the youngest-looking, youngest-feeling, and youngest-acting 70-year-old on the planet. (1000% true.)”

Kelly added: “And he’d still be going full steam ahead. Bob didn’t believe in retirement. That word just wasn’t in his vocabulary. He’d still be saying he was ‘just getting started.’”

She also said Bob would likely have embraced becoming a grandfather while continuing to perform stand-up comedy.

Kelly wrote: “It would be so fun to watch him still out there absolutely killing it in the comedy world. He never, ever wanted to stop.”

She referenced Bob’s admiration for late comedians Don Rickles and Norman Lear, writing Bob often spoke about comedian Don performing close to the age of 90 and Lear continuing to work into his late 90s.

Kelly added: “And while my mantra since losing Bob has always been that I wasn’t robbed, because I’m so lucky I got to experience the gift of him for six beautiful years… damn, I really do wish we all got to see what he’d be doing today.”

Bob’s death was ruled accidental after investigators determined he had suffered blunt head trauma before going to sleep unaware of the severity of the injury. Authorities said no drugs or alcohol were involved.

A statement released by Bob’s family at the time said: “The authorities have determined that Bob passed away from head trauma.

“They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep.”

The medical examiner in Florida, Joshua Stephany, later confirmed Bob died from “blunt head trauma”.

A private funeral for the comedian was held in Los Angeles on 14 January 2022, attended by Full House castmates and celebrity friends including Jimmy Kimmel, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock and John Mayer.

The actor, who also starred in Surviving Suburbia and served for years as the wisecracking host of America's Funniest Home Videos, was the father of three daughters with former wife Sherri Kramer.

After more than two decades single, Bob married Kelly in 2018.
