Eiza Gonzalez relished playing a "fearless" character in Guy Ritchie's In the Grey.

The 36-year-old actress stars alongside Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, Kristofer Hivju, Fisher Stevens, and Rosamund Pike in In the Grey, the new action thriller film written, produced and directed by Guy Ritchie, and Eiza has revealed that she really enjoyed playing a "strong and bold" female character in the film.

She told Extra: "It’s nice when you get roles where you really get to develop a strength as a character itself.

"When I watched Guy Ritchie movies, I always felt that the female characters were quite strong and bold and kind of fearless. I’ve done, you know, three films with him now and from all the characters I’ve ever played … she has to sort of carry this weight with her confidence and so she takes the room, she takes the attention in the room without imposing or trying really hard."

Eiza has been busily preparing to play a bodybuilder in Iron Jane, an upcoming bodybuilding drama film written and directed by Lissette Feliciano, and she's opened up about her preparations for that role, too.

The brunette beauty shared: "The more I train, the more I have to kind of go through this transformation, the more I am just floored by what it takes. Of course, it’s physical, but it is a challenging mental thing where you have to sort of commit no matter what … There’s no hiding in bodybuilding."

Meanwhile, Eiza previously confessed that she used to feel "very self-conscious" about her English language skills.

The actress was born and raised in Mexico City, and Eiza admits to feeling awkward about her English during her younger years.

The movie star told Women's Health magazine: "I was so terrified when I broke into the industry [with 2017's Baby Driver] because I was very self-conscious about English not being my first language.

"I felt like I was just never going to have the naturality that it took. Like when you're speaking your language, you react in your language, and having to sort of fake that because you're not in your natural language, people sometimes take for granted. Preparation and discipline are what really make the difference."
