Nick Cannon applies a “double standard” when it comes to his teenage children dating.

The television host and comedian known for The Masked Singer and America's Got Talent, 45, made the admission as he said he is encouraging his son to get out on the dating scene – while refusing to allow the same for his daughter.

Father-of-12 Nick, who is also widely associated with Wild ’n Out, made the remarks during an appearance on The TMZ Podcast, while discussing his 15-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, who he had with Mariah Carey, alongside multiple children with other partners.

Discussing his boy, Nick said: “My son (Moroccan) has been dating, and I’ve allowed it, I encouraged it.”

When asked whether the same approach applied to his daughter Monroe, he said: “No, absolutely not.”

Nick added: “First of all, it’s absolutely a double standard. And I know I get in trouble a lot ’cause I say things with my chest. But there is a difference when parenting a son and then when parenting a daughter.”

Nick expanded on his reasoning, saying: “I am more protective of my daughter because there (are) things out there that I have to protect my daughter from.”

He continued: “Like, as we know, there are a certain type of individuals that you want to keep your daughter away from.”

Addressing the potential risks he perceives against his girl, Nick said: “If somebody puts their hands on my daughter, I’m going to jail.”

He added: “If some man puts his hands on my daughter, it’s my worst nightmare because I am going to jail forever.”

Nick’s comments follow earlier reflections on his personal life, including an interview on The Breakfast Club in September 2025, where he discussed the impact of his separation from Mariah.

He said: “I didn’t get a chance to slow down until I got in therapy.”

Nick added: “But I was just like, ‘Look, I just got to keep making money. I got to stay hot. I got to stay funny’.

“And everything else figured itself out. And I just didn’t do the work. So then I looked up with 12 kids later. Wow, I could have did things very differently.”

Nick continued: “But I stand firm on all of my decisions because I love all my kids. I love my family infrastructure.”

He added: “But I know it all started from a place of pain and not really healing properly.”

Nick also has sons Golden Saigon and Rise Messiah and daughter Powerful Queen with Brittany Bell, as well as twin sons Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir and daughter Beautiful Zeppelin with Abby De La Rosa.

And he has son Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi, daughter Onyx Ice Cole with LaNisha Cole and daughter Halo Marie with Alyssa Scott.

He and Alyssa are also parents to son Zen, who died in December 2021 from a brain tumour.
