Valerie Bertinelli: Posing naked was terrifying
Valerie Bertinelli has opened up about appearing naked on the cover of her memoir.
Valerie Bertinelli found posing naked for her memoir to be a "terrifying" experience.
The 66-year-old actress decided to strip for the cover of her new memoir, Getting Naked - but Valerie has confessed that it was a nerve-wracking experience.
Speaking at an event in Los Angeles, she shared: "It was terrifying.
"But here's the deal. It's like when I was on the phone with my editor and I was saying, ‘I think because I'm calling it Getting Naked, I need to actually be naked on the cover. So I wanna try and explore that.' And she's like, ‘Great!' And then once it was out of my mouth, I kinda had to do it."
Despite her nerves, Valerie convinced herself to get naked and bare it all for the memoir cover.
She said: "I'm one of those people that if I'm really afraid of something, I'm like, ‘Why? What are you so afraid of? What is it gonna hurt you? Just do it. Who the f*** cares?'
"So I finally just did it. I did it, I'm not gonna do it again! But it was interesting to walk through that fear and get to the other side of it."
Meanwhile, Valerie recently admitted to having been a "people pleaser for far too long".
The actress explained that ageing has led her to look at life, and her approach to it, in a totally different way.
During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Valerie explained: "I had to turn 64 before I really caught on. I was that people pleaser for far too long. And I just decided after everything that happened last year, I'm done. I'm done."
Valerie is now determined to put her own interests first.
The actress - who was married to Tom Vitale between 2011 and 2022 - shared: "I'm going to put myself [first] - I have to care about myself. And at this age, I care less about what people who don't know me think about me."
