Lady Victoria Beckham says she and Sir David "support each other through everything we do".

The 52-year-old fashion icon has opened up about how she and her husband tackle "tough times" as a family following their son Brooklyn's explosive statement distancing himself from his parents earlier this year.

Appearing on Today with Jenna and Sheinelle this week, Victoria was asked by host Jenna Bush Hager: "You have had a pretty public challenging year - we have talked about it on this show. How do you get through the tough times?"

She replied: "You know, myself and David, we're so close and we have incredible people around us.

"We're close to my parents and David's parents. We support each other through everything that we do.

"We love our children so much and have always really focused on protecting our children. But we laugh a lot. David Beckham is really, super funny."

The former Spice Girl added that they have also "grown together", and she is grateful for the bond they share.

She added: "We've grown together. And that's where I feel so blessed. We really have grown together. We support each other.

"We've both got big dreams. We're both very, very ambitious and we support each other. I want him to be the best version of himself and that's what he wants for me."

Meanwhile, Victoria - who didn't specifically reference Brooklyn, 27, during the interview - insisted the couple "always" prioritise their children.

She said: “We always put our children first. We love our children so much and have always really focused on protecting our children.”

Brooklyn shared a bombshell Instagram post in January in which he accused his famous parents of trying to control the family image, "bribe" him into selling the commercial rights to his own name and ruining his wedding to wife Nicola Peltz Beckham.

Asked directly about Brooklyn, Victoria - who also has Romeo, 24, Cruz, 21, and 14-year-old Harper with David - recently told WSJ. magazine: “I think that we’ve always - we love our children so much.

“We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be.

"And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”

Victoria admitted parenting her kids now is "very different" to when they were younger, and while her and David's public profiles have always brought attention to their wider families but Victoria insisted she doesn't feel guilty.

She said: “I wouldn’t say it comes with guilt, I’d say that there was a lot of adjusting from my mum and dad, when all of a sudden there were paparazzi outside their house.

“We’ve really taken our families on this ride with us.”
