Bridgerton star Bessie Carter has promised herself she will "stop dating red flags", but admitted she is single and has "never been happier", partly thanks to her "wonderful friends".
Bessie Carter has promised herself she will "stop dating red flags".
The Bridgerton actress, who was previously dating her co-star Sam Phillips, has told how she is single and has "never been happier", which is partly thanks to her having some "wonderful friends".
Bessie - who is the daughter of actors Dame Imelda Staunton and Jim Carter - wrote on her Substack: "I am content. I am quiet. I am single. And I have never been happier."
In a post in which she discussed making friends, she said: "I wanted to come back to myself. To romance my life. To buy myself flowers (thanks Miley). To learn what I authentically loved and not what was ‘in’. To read books again.
"To get quiet enough that I could hear my fears and then to gosh dang face them. To go to therapy. To become really f***ing good at my job.
"To realign with other people doing the same. To stop drinking. To stop dating red flags.
"To own my s**t and not need to fill every moment of the day with NOISE.
"I wanted to come back to myself and to look inward so that on a day like today I could happily sit in silence. A silence which is peaceful, clarifying and recharging."
Bessie also admitted she "loves waking up alone", and told fans how she has some "wonderful pals" who she has chosen, and they have chosen her for who she is.
She added: "I love that my friend bought me roses for Valentines.
"I love that my other pal invited me to yoga tonight. I love that I could say, 'Thank you, I would love to. But I’m having a me day.' "
Last year, Bessie told how her friends are "so over" her having famous parents.
She explained to People in 10: "Most of my friends are so over it in the nicest way. As in, they’re just my parents to them. Which is really nice."
But when it comes to finding a partner to fit in with her family, Bessie thinks a sense of humor is vital.
She said: "I mean, if you’ve got a crackin’ sense of humour, you’re gonna be fine.
"[My parents have] got a crackin' sense of humour. Humour is one of the most important things to me in any kind of relationship, so, yeah, if you can crack a joke, you’ll be absolutely fine. (sic)"
