Police have detained someone for questioning in connection with Nancy Guthrie's disappearance.

The 84-year-old mother of the Today show presenter Savannah Guthrie has been missing since January 31, and authorities in Arizona - who declared her disappearance a crime on February 2 - have confirmed they detained an individual south of Tucson on Tuesday (10.02.26).

In a statement, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said: "Earlier today, Pima County Sheriff's Department deputies detained a subject during a traffic stop south of Tucson.

"The subject is currently being questioned in connection to the Nancy Guthrie investigation.

"Additional information will be released as it becomes available."

According to ABC, the authorities are preparing to search a location linked to the individual.

The update comes hours after the Pima County Sheriff's office released images and a video of a person with a hat over their face wearing gloves, with the figure appearing to have tampered with a camera at the victim's front door.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos wrote on X: "Working with our partners — as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie's front door the morning of her disappearance.

FBI Director Kash Patel also posted images and two videos of the individual on his X account.

FBI Phoenix Public Affairs Officer Brooke Brennan said in a statement: "Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie‘s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors, including the removal of recording devices.

"The video was recovered from residual data located in backend system."

Savannah and her siblings issued another urgent plea for help to find their mother on Monday (09.02.26) just days after the FBI offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to her being found, "and/or the arrested and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance".

In an Instagram video, the Today host said: "We believe our mom is still out there. We need your help.

"Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock trying to bring her home — trying to find her. She was taken and we don’t know where. And we need your help.

“So I’m coming on just to ask you not just for your prayers, but no matter where you are — even if you’re far from Tucson.

"If you see anything, if you hear anything, if there’s anything at all that seems strange to you — that you report to law enforcement. We are at an hour of desperation, and we need your help.”

Over the weekend, Savannah appeared in another video with her siblings Cameron and Annie as she revealed they are willing to "pay" for their mother's safe return.

She said: "We received your message, and we understand.

"We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay."
