Simon Cowell embracing 'wacky' wellness regime
Music mogul Simon Cowell has admitted gets his blood "rinsed" as part of a "wacky" wellness regime.
Simon Cowell has embraced a "wacky" wellness regime.
The 66-year-old music mogul embraced a healthy new lifestyle after he suffered devastating injuries in a e-bicycle accident in California in 2020 because he realised how "unfit" he was when recovering from spinal surgery - and he's now admitted he started exercising, changed his diet and has gone even further by having "toxins" removed from his blood twice a year.
He told The Times newspaper: "Your blood being rinsed of all the toxins and coming back cleaner, I think it’s a good idea. It’s a bit wacky - I’m into all that."
Cowell went on to talk about how the cycling accident changed his life for the better, explaining: "It wasn’t great, but maybe it was meant to happen ...
"I was unfit. Every day I was getting up and sitting on the telephone for about ten hours. So even though I was working out, doing push-ups, I wasn’t really fit ...
"After three or four months, starting to walk again, I had to get up to 20,000 steps. It was hard. I’d come back and my feet would be covered in blood."
Cowell lost around four stone by changing his diet and exercise regime and admits the one unhealthy habit he's hung onto is vaping - because it stops him smoking cigarettes.
He added: "This is the only thing that got me off cigarettes. And I was on nearly two packs a day, for a very long time.
"I might have four puffs [of a cigarette every two weeks], just because I fancy it."
Cowell previously opened up about his quest to slow down the ageing process admitting he's willing to try lots of different treatments to see if they work.
He told the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast: "I go to this wellness clinic where they actually take your blood, they rinse it, they filter it, they put it back into your body."
Cowell explained he undergoes tests at the clinic, where they "tell you your age", adding: “You do all these tests and they tell you your age — so I’ve actually aged backwards by eating better, more exercise, less stress, certain supplements.
"My brain is still there, I still have the energy."
The media mogul also previously debating freezing himself. He added: "I actually was going to freeze myself. I thought, ‘Why not?’ "Then I found out they chop your head off, so you come back in two thousand years as a floating head. I’m like, ‘No, I don’t want that'."
