Liam Gallagher carries Mani's coffin at funeral
Oasis star Liam Gallagher was among the pallbearers at Gary 'Mani' Mounfield's funeral in Manchester on Monday (22.12.25) with the rocker along those carrying the coffin which was decorated the artwork seen on the cover of the Stone Roses' debut album.

The Oasis star, 53, was seen carrying the Stone Roses star's coffin, which was decorated with the Bye Bye Badman artwork by John Squire which featured on the band's eponymous 1993 debut album, along with Squire and the band's drummer Alan 'Reni' Wren as Mani's friends and family came together to say goodbye in a service at Manchester Cathedral.
Mani's Stone Roses bandmate Ian Brown was among those who offered tributes during the service, with the musician telling the congregation: "Mani was like a brother to me , a musical comrade. Beautiful soul and spirit.
"Mani was able to laugh his way through any darkness. He was the life and soul of any room he was in."
Mani's Primal Scream bandmate Bobby Gillespie also spoke during the funeral and he told the gathering: "Mani's warm and welcoming manner, treating me like an equal, made me feel like a million dollars and I’ll never forget that.
"No-one was too important to escape his laser-eye ability to cut the pretentious and self-important down to size, myself included. His ability to make laughter out of any situation was our great value wherever we were in the world."
Gillespie added: "Mani's not dead, he’s just gone ... He will always live forever in my soul and mind."
Also among the mourners were Paul Weller, Peter Hook, Happy Mondays star Bez, The Smiths drummer Mike Joyce as well as former Manchester United footballers Sir David Beckham and Gary Neville, Elbow frontman Guy Garvey and politician Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester.
The coffin - which was adorned with floral tributes spelling out Mani and R Kid - was taken in a procession through the streets of Manchester before the service at the cathedral.
The service was being followed a private committal.
Mani died at his home in Stockport on November 20 aged 63. The musician shot to fame with The Stone Roses, but they went their separate ways in 1996, and he went on to join Primal Scream. But in 2011, he announced he had left the band to reunite with The Stone Roses for a huge stadium tour.
Mani's death came two years after he lost his wife Imelda Mounfield, who died in November 2020 after a battle with bowel cancer.
