Pop star Taylor Swift has revealed how Travis Kelce changed her mind about dating athletes.
Taylor Swift was always opposed to dating athletes - until she met Travis Kelce.
The 36-year-old pop singer began dating Travis in 2023, and the loved-up couple announced their engagement earlier this year - but Taylor was previously opposed to the idea of dating a sportsman, as she didn't think they'd have much in common.
The chart-topping star - who has previously dated the likes of Harry Styles, Calvin Harris and Joe Alwyn - says in her Disney docuseries The End of Era: "I've been very non-athlete because I'm not one and I've always been like, 'What would we talk about?'"
However, Taylor's mom, Andrea, actually encouraged the musician to pursue a relationship with Travis, 36, after he spoke glowingly about Taylor on his New Heights podcast.
Speaking to her mom, Taylor said: "So you call me up with this tone of, 'Hey, I know you're going to not react well to this, but there's a guy...'"
Andrea actually wanted to learn more about Travis after he spoke about Taylor on his podcast.
She said: "I’m looking at the headlines and perusing around on the Internet and I see that this guy came to your show and he brought a friendship bracelet and wants to meet you. So I call up my resident expert on the Kansas City Chiefs, my cousin Robin, and I go, ‘Tell me about this guy named Travis Kelce.'"
Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes - Travis' teammate at the Kansas City Chiefs - previously claimed that the singer has helped to make the NFL franchise a "worldwide team".
Patrick told Time magazine: "[The Chiefs] went from a nationwide team that was kind of global to a full global worldwide team. That came from Taylor’s fanbase."
Patrick also admitted to being impressed by Taylor's work ethic.
The 30-year-old sports star said: "I’ve met a lot of famous people now in my life. Taylor’s probably the most down-to-earth person that’s been on that stage for that long.
"She’s never not working. Even when she’s taking her downtime, she’s working on something. Shooting a music video or singing a song or writing a song. You can see it by how she talks."
