Jon Hamm told Olivia Munn to "bite" him "really hard" during a raunchy sex scene in 'Your Friends and Neighbors'.

The 54-year-old actor's character, former hedge fund manager Andrew 'Coop' Cooper, and the 44-year-old actress's alter ego, Samantha 'Sam' Levitt, have a secret fling in the Apple TV+ series with Andrew navigating a divorce.

Olivia was so nervous about pushing her teeth into on the Hollywood legend's skin, but she quickly felt at ease because of how "tough" Jon is.

She told PEOPLE: "My character had to bite him, and I was nervous, but he just kept saying, 'It's okay. You can bite really hard.'

"And then I did. And he's a pretty tough guy. He's a very tough guy."

The 'X-Men: Apocalypse' star said the pair had to learn "a lot of choreography" and had to have many conversations - including with showrunner Jonathan Tropper and "an intimacy co-ordinator" - to make their characters' sizzling romp look "believable".

She said: "There's a lot of sex scenes in this, and there's a lot of dialogue about it with myself and Jon and Jonathan Tropper, and an intimacy co-ordinator because it has to be really believable.

"My character is wanting something more from Jon's character. The only thing she's getting from him at this point is this sexual relationship, and that's so much a part of what is between them.

"And so it's really important that we really feel how much she's leaning on this and trying to really connect with him through these moments, and those are the biggest connecting points."

She compared intimacy coordinators to stunt coordinators, particularly with helping everyone get scenes to a certain point,

She said: ""It's not real-life, clearly, and there's a lot of choreography that goes on behind [the scenes].

"And intimacy coordinators are like stunt coordinators, and they're there to help make the scene look as believable and realistic, and help everybody achieve what we want to achieve.

"And so, there's a lot of discussion."

'Your Friends and Neighbors' premieres on April 11 on Apple TV+.
