Drew Barrymore's ex-boyfriend tried to move his mother into their home "indefinitely".

The 'Charlie's Angels' actress didn't name which of her ex-lovers was keen for them to live with his mom but she admitted as soon as he broke the news to her, she declared she was "out" because it was a huge deal-breaker for her, particularly because she hadn't even met his parent.

Speaking on 'The Drew Barrymore Show', the host, Valerie Bertinelli and Ross Mathews were discussing a People magazine story about a woman who called off her wedding when she found out her fiance had secretly bought a house with his mom, and Drew admitted she could relate.

She said: “This happened to me — whoever you are, madam, out there — I totally have been through something like you’ve been through, although I was not engaged.

“But I moved in with one of my first boyfriends and I was really excited, We get the most cute little house in Los Feliz, California, I’m like, ‘I’m gonna be a hipster with my live-in boyfriend! Oh my God, I’m Mary Tyler Moore-ing it!’

“We move in, he goes, ‘By the way, my mom is going to come stay with us.’ And I was like, ‘Oh… Okay! That’s so cool! Like, for how long?’

“And he goes, ‘Like, maybe forever? Indefinitely. She’s gonna move in with us.’

“I literally go, ‘I gotta go. I gotta go. Are you out of your mind? Your mother — have I met your mother?' He’s like, ‘No.’ I’m like, ‘So, I don’t know your mother?’ He’s like, ‘No, I think you’ll be fine.’ I’m like, ‘I have mother issues! I’m leaving. Here’s my laundry basket — I’m out!’”

Drew insisted such behavior is "not ok".

Directly addressing the woman in the article, the 50-year-old star turned to the camera and said: “Ma’am, I am so sorry that happened to you. It’s not okay to spring the mom is coming to move in with you.”

Meanwhile, Drew - who has daughters Olive, 12, and 10-year-old Frankie with ex-husband Will Kopelman - admitted on the show she finds dating as a single parent "bizarre" and she still hasn't got to grips with the logistics of the process.

She said: “I don’t really know how, exactly, to do it.

"I’ll go on a date here or a date there and I feel like it’s sort of in my adult life; it’s not really a part of my real world, or my home life.”

Drew has "no interest" in introducing a potential partner to her children either.

She added: "My girls, they tell me all the time they’d love for me to meet somebody and then I’m like, ‘I don’t really know how to do this with you guys.' And that’s okay! Because if there was something missing or I was really unfulfilled or I needed something, I would be true to that.”
