Travis Kelce 'introduced himself as Charles as a child'
Jason Kelce has revealed that his brother adopted an unusual nickname as a child.
Travis Kelce introduced himself as "Charles" as a child.
The 35-year-old sports star - who is dating pop singer Taylor Swift - chose to adopt the nickname because Charles Barkley was his "favorite basketball player" during his younger years.
Jason Kelce, Travis' older brother, told ESPN: "He was the crazy guy; I think we both were pretty reckless whenever the snow was falling in Cleveland."
Jason, 37 - who also enjoyed a hugely successful career in the NFL - vividly remembers his sibling trying to convince the "entire block" that his name was Charles, after the former professional basketball player.
Jason said: "His favorite basketball player was Charles Barkley.
"We found out at a block party because all the other parents were like, ‘There goes Charles.' That’s the kind of kid Travis was. He was always living up to all of his sports idols, for sure."
In 2024, Travis insisted that he had no plans to retire from the NFL.
The Kansas City Chiefs star - who has become one of the most talked-about athletes in the world after he began dating Taylor - revealed that he had no intention of retiring from the sport, despite lifting the Super Bowl trophy in early 2024.
Travis - who starred on the TV series 'Grotesquerie' last year - said on the 'Rich Eisen Show': "It didn’t cross my mind one bit.
"I think the excitement of the challenge of this year, being able to maybe do it a third time in a row - I think that alone was all I needed. That was an instant thought, so there was really not a chance in hell that I wasn’t coming back this year."
