Yvette Nicole Brown never thought she would get married but wants others to remember that "delay is not denial" and it can happen at any time.
Yvette Nicole Brown never thought she would get married.
The 53-year-old actress tied the knot with Anthony Davis on 14 December and admitted she "stopped dreaming" of a wedding more than two decades ago because it hadn't happened by the time she reached a certain age.
She told 'Entertainment Tonight': "I can't believe the day is finally here. I'm a person of a certain age, I'm a woman of a certain age so this is something that I stopped dreaming about 25 years ago. It's finally here, my family and friends are here and it's really amazing. Delay is not denial. I heard today about a woman who is 102 who just married someone who is 100.
"Now, we don't wanna wait that long, but if it's for the right person and it's your time, just wait for the your time. I'm telling you, marrying the wrong person is very tough."
The 'Drake and Josh' star - who is also known for her role as Shirley Bennett in the sitcom 'Community' gushed that her new husband is the “perfect person” for her.
She said: "Delay is not denial. I keep saying that, I sound like a broken record but I am marrying the perfect person for me. I think, sometimes, the butterflies come when you're maybe not fully sure or you're nervous. I am not nervous about anything."
Yvette's brother Paris had the honour of walking the actress down the aisle, as her father has Alzheimer's disease.
Both Yvette's mom and Anthony's parents are sadly no longer alive so their siblings "stood in" at the mid-December wedding, which was held at The Maybourne Beverly Hills in Los Angeles.
Yvette told People: "Neither of our parents were able to be there in person.
"So my brother and his sister stood in, so it was nice to walk down the aisle toward family and with family, even if it's not the family we wish we had in those roles."
