Jennifer Lopez is said to be “taking time for herself”.

The 55-year-old singer was left devastated after she filed for divorce from her ex-husband Ben Affleck, 52, on 20 August, but is now said to be working on finding inner peace and is apparently not bitter over the break up.

A source told People even though J Lo has experienced one of the “hardest years” of her life, she is now prioritising her wellbeing and career.

They added: “She didn't want to file for divorce. She just felt like she had no choice. Nothing was gonna change with Ben.

“She was very upset about (the split.)

“But true to her positive outlook on life, she’s moving forward with optimism.

“Instead of feeling like she's fallen flat on her face, she sees it was meant to be.

“She’s taking time for herself right now.”

Court documents revealed J Lo and Ben listed their date of separation as 26 April after the pair spent this summer living separate lives.

The source also said J Lo is cherishing the good times she had with Ben.

They added: “She knows she lives a privileged life in so many ways. She’s very grateful for all the beautiful memories with Ben, but she's now focused on creating the best future for herself and her kids.”

Mother-of-two J Lo and dad-of-three Ben first started dating in 2002 after they met while playing lovers in the ‘Gigli’ film, but after getting engaged they called off their marriage two years later.

J Lo went on to marry Marc Anthony, 56, while Ben got hitched to actress Jennifer Garner, 52, but after they broke up with their partners they got back together in 2021 and married a year later.

The singer said in a chat with Interview magazine published last week her split from Ben felt “lonely”, “unfamiliar”, “scary”, “sad” and “desperate”.
