Hailey Bieber has confirmed her engagement ring has been upgraded.

The Rhode Skin founder - who is expecting her first child with husband Justin Bieber - shared a string of photos during a trip to Japan in May, and eagle-eyed fans noticed she was sporting new jewellery on her finger as well as her original engagement band on a different finger, and while she's confirmed the Lorraine Schwartz piece has been "elongated", she insisted the dramatic speculation the rock is more than 10 carats bigger than her first ring was wide of the mark.

She told W magazine: "Actually, this is only one carat bigger. It's just elongated.

"They're going off with their own stories about it. I don't like it. I didn't want to talk about it."

The 27-year-old beauty is tired of the scrutiny her high-profile relationship has always faced and she admitted that, six years after she and the 'Peaches' hitmaker first tied the knot, unfair speculation about the state of their marriage still "hurts" as much as ever, even after working with a therapist to "compartmentalise" the negative comments.

She said: “People have made me feel so bad about my relationship since day one. ‘Oh, they’re falling apart. They hate each other. They’re getting divorced.’ It’s like people don’t want to believe that we’re happy.

“I used to try to act like it hurts less and less. I’ve tried to think that you get used to it at a certain point, that this is what’s going to be said and this is how people are going to be. But I realize that it doesn’t actually ever hurt any less.”

Hailey was just 21 when she got married and while getting hitched at a relatively young age was right for her, she doesn't think it's what all women ought to do.

She said: “I wouldn’t tell a 21-year-old in the chair right there, ‘I think you should get married.’ It’s really each individual’s experience.”

The model is trying to minimise her time online during her pregnancy because she doesn't want to get freaked out by stories online.

She said: "The Internet is a scary place for a pregnant woman.

“You see so many stories—traumatic birth stories, traumatic experiences—and I know that that’s very real. But I don’t want to scare myself.”
